To collect and encourage the preservation of the early records of the Knights Templar and their descendants.
To foster the continued interest in Historical and Genealogical Research of the era of the Knights Templar.
To publish, periodically, genealogical records pertaining to the descendants of the Knights Templar of this era and ensure that they are placed in the major genealogical repositories in the United States.
The Society of Knights Templar Descendants is a non-political, non-sectarian, hereditary organization. Membership is open to any person who can prove lineal descent from a male ancestor who was a Knight Templar.
Proof of lineal descent, with sources, must be submitted, accompanied by the life membership fee.
The Society of Knights Templar Descendants is governed by a Grand Master, who shall be responsible for reviewing all applications for membership and either approving or rejecting the same. The Grand Master's decision on any application shall be considered final, and upon approval of an application the Grand Master shall issue to the applicant a membership certificate certifying that the applicant has been conferred a Life Membership in the Society of Knights Templar Descendants.
The Grand Master shall, during his or her tenure, have the responsibility to designate a qualified and committed life member of the Society to be their successor. This designation shall be made in writing and kept in a secure and confidential manner. The designated successor must be a life member in good standing with the Society of Knights Templar Descendants, and must possess a strong commitment to the principles and values upheld by the Society. Upon death of the Grand Master and the acceptance of the appointment by the designated successor, the successor shall immediately be constituted and appointed the Grand Master of the Society.
An applicant for membership in the Society of Knights Templar Descendants shall submit a one-time life membership fee of $200, which shall be received by the Society prior to the conferring of life membership on the applicant. The Society shall not collect any further application fees or dues for initial membership.
For a supplemental application made by an existing member of the Society, the applicant shall submit a one-time fee of $100, which shall be received by the Society prior to the approval of the supplemental application.
The Society shall not charge any fee for the issuance of the initial membership certificate. Replacement or duplicate certificates may be purchased by existing members for a fee of $25 each.
